CRISSY DAENERYS - TOP 5 HALLOWEEN MOVIES

The time has come!...The most wonderful and chilling time of the year; Halloween! Now, if you find ourselves with nothing to on a cold dark night—you’ll definitely want to resort to one of my top 5 favorite Halloween movies.

5 - FRIGHT NIGHT

Last for my October picks is Fright Night. What’s Halloween without vampires?! A boy next door, thinks his neighbor’s strange behavior means that he is a vampire. No one believes the boy, not even the TV host of the show Fright Night. He willingly helps the boy for the money, but later realizes there are bigger issues at hand.

4 - TRICK ‘R TREAT

A newbie but goodie for my top 5 favorite Halloween movies is Trick ‘r Treat. This flick takes every Halloween myth and tale that you can remember and brings it to life interwoven between five different stories on the night of Halloween. Full of the demonic and supernatural, this movie has it all!

3 - BEETLEJUICE

Beetlejuice is my third pick for this list. Directed by Tim Burton, you can expect nothing but the extraordinary. For those of you who have not watched this classic film, the story circles around Adam and Barbara. Adam and Barbara are a seemingly normal couple, except for the fact that they are dead. In desperate times, we call for desperate measures. The couple calls upon Beetlejuice to help scare out the new family who inhabits their home.

2 - SCREAM

Next up on my slasher list is Scream. All of you know the all-too familiar ghost face! This flick is directed by one of my favorite directors: Wes Craven. The storyline follows Sidney, a high school student who seemingly is the object of Ghostface’s attacks! Scream is unique because it openly made fun of the horror movie cliches and was one the the first films to do so.

1 - HALLOWEEN

Halloween is one of my picks for many reasons. Not only do we get to see young Jamie Lee Curtis in her heyday but Michael Myers is one of the all-time best fictional serial killers of all times. The flick begins on Halloween night if 1963, At six years old, Michael stabs his 15 year old sister to death. The child is then institutionalized. 15 years later, on the same night, Michael breaks out and returns home to unleash his pure evil upon his hometown.

Probably one of the oddest previews I have seen thus far, is that of Swiss Army Man. What is this movie even about? Did Harry Potter have a spell backfire on him and out popped Swiss Army Man? Either way, Daniel Radcliffe returns to the cinema screen as Manny, the talking corpse....

The film is directed by James Wan who turned down the opportunity to direct Fast 8, so that he could take on a more challenging film and get back to his roots in horror. The movie is a sequel to The Conjuring, which was released in July 2013...

COSPLAY: THE ART AND BUSINESS OF COSTUME IN AMERICA

Continuing my journey down the nerdy rabbit hole, I finally got one short day to spend at Emerald City Comic Con. Having grown up in the Seattle area, I had never seen the Washington State Convention center so packed. Tip of advice: If you’re headed to a convention there, you’re better off parking along the Sound Transit line and taking the train in. Parking in the city is impossible. Naturally it was pouring that day, so my blonde hair frizzed out of it’s Dolores curls. Once inside, it was all worth the hassle. ECCC celebrated it’s 15th anniversary this year with record attendance. 90,000 people crowded the
convention center to attend panels, pick out prints from their favorite fan artists, and meet an ever growing cast of celebrity guests.
